The Importance Of Water

We can all be left feeling dehydrated sometimes, sun or no sun!.

Even slight dehydration can have a serious impact on your body.  It will affect the clarity of your skin, hair and nails.  Not only that but it also affects both concentration and energy levels too.  So if you’ve been feeling ‘sluggish’ it’s possibly because your dehydrated.

This is easy to prevent by ensuring you regularly drink water throughout the day but as we all know, drinking plenty of water is often a challenge alot of us fail to meet.

To help you remain hydrated and stay on track, I thought I would share some easy ways to drink more water over the coming months.

Top Tip #1. Add flavour to your water jug!

Downing several glasses of water a day can seem like torture when every cup is tasteless. Why not add a bit of excitement by adding fresh fruit, eg strawberries, lemons or raspberries or veggie slices and herbs, eg cucumber and mint, to your water jug or bottle to zest things up a little!

Top Tip #2. Use an app to track your intake.

Keeping up with how many glasses you’ve finished can be easy (and fun) with the help of a free app.

Download Daily Water Free or Carbodroid to your phone to set daily reminders and alarms.

Top Tip #3. Keep a 2 litre water jug nearby.

It’s easy to remember to fill up on water when the source is nearby. Keep a jug, large carafe or bottle at your desk, by the bed at home, and on the kitchen worktop as a constant reminder to drink up.

Top Tip #4. Stick to a one-to-one rule when drinking alcohol.

Lighter evenings often meaning chilling in the garden at the end of the day with a glass in hand.  You’ve probably heard the drinking rule: for every alcoholic drink you enjoy match it with one glass of water. Not only is this a great strategy to avoid a hangover the next day, but you can also use it to make sure you get plenty of H2O in your system

Top Tip #5 – Use a marked water bottle.

A bottle that’s marked with times can help you reach your personal water goal each day. Plus, you’ll know exactly how many times you need to refill!
